Handwoven in Ninh Bình, along Vietnam's Red River Delta, this set of three water hyacinth baskets is finished with vegan leather handles. Named after the earth — for the warm, sun-dried gold the water hyacinth turns as it dries, the colour of soil in late summer light.

Story

The Terre is a set of three handwoven water hyacinth baskets with vegan leather handles — natural in material, grounded in character. Named after the earth, for the warm, sun-dried gold the water hyacinth turns as it dries.

Made in Ninh Bình, along Vietnam's Red River Delta, where artisans work with water hyacinth harvested from the river systems and lakes. The handles carry gold-thread stitching, sewn where the vegan leather meets the woven basket — one of the most tactile details in the collection.

Three sizes. One for the bedside. One for the living room. One for everywhere else — including as a planter cover for a favourite indoor plant, letting the basket do double duty as pot and decor in one.

  • Keep away from prolonged moisture or direct rain.
  • Avoid sustained direct sunlight for extended periods — this may fade the natural colour over time.
  • If a basket loses its shape, lightly dampen the exterior and reshape by hand. Leave to dry in position.

Water hyacinth stalks are harvested from the rivers and lakes of Ninh Bình, along the Red River Delta — cut at peak maturity, sorted, sun-dried, and woven by hand into a tight spiral weave that gives each basket its characteristic shape and structural strength.

The vegan leather handles are the final stage. Cut to length, edge-finished, and stitched to the basket body by hand with gold-thread cross-stitching that anchors the handle.

Water hyacinth from the Red River Delta — harvested and dried naturally without chemical treatment. The natural golden-straw colour and slight variation in tone between baskets are qualities of the raw material.

The handles are finished in vegan (PU) leather — thick, supple, and designed to hold up well with everyday use.
