Story

The Perle is a set of six handwoven rattan coasters, each inlaid with a mother-of-pearl clover motif — green shell leaves and gold segments set against a cream diamond lattice. Named after the French word for pearl, for the lustre of the shell at the heart of each piece.

Made in Chương Mỹ, Hanoi. The rattan base is woven first, then inlaid by hand with shell fragments cut to form the clover pattern.

Comes with a matching rattan holder. Dia 12cm. Unique and beautiful to catch the eye of any guest — a considered coffee table piece that earns its place every day.

A set of six handwoven rattan coasters, each inlaid with a mother-of-pearl clover motif — green shell leaves and gold segments set against a cream diamond lattice — made in Chương Mỹ, Hanoi. The rattan base is woven first, then the shell pattern is set by hand into the surface at the centre. The woven rim frames the inlay on all sides. Comes with a matching rattan holder, woven with a small side handle, sized to hold the full set stacked together.

Care Instructions

Mother of pearl inlay asks little, and gives back a great deal.

  • Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • A damp glass or cup is fine — just avoid letting condensation or spills sit for extended periods, and wipe dry after use.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar.
  • Do not place in a dishwasher or submerge in water.
  • Keep away from direct, sustained heat sources.
  • The rattan rim and inlay surface will each develop a subtle patina with use — this is natural and desirable, not a defect.

The mother of pearl inlay is set by hand into the coaster's surface. It will not lift or peel under normal use.
