Story

The Lien is a set of twelve handwoven rattan napkin rings, six in natural rattan and six in a lighter brown. Named after the French word for bond — lien — a word with a double meaning here: the ring that holds the linen, and the act of gathering people at a table.

Made in Chương Mỹ, Hanoi, where rattan is worked by hand in village workshops. A small piece that makes a table feel considered. The natural and lighter-brown rings can be mixed together across a table, or separated for two distinct settings.

Set of 12. Each ring: Dia 4cm × H 4cm.

Care Instructions

Natural rattan is built for the table, day after day.

  • Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth.
  • Keep away from prolonged moisture.
  • The natural and lighter-brown tones between rings in a set are a quality of the handmade material — not a defect.

With regular use, natural rattan develops a slight patina that makes it more beautiful over time.

The Lien in Your Home

Twelve napkin rings named after bond. A table detail that brings everything together.

  • The Bonded Table (Dinner Party) — mixed natural and lighter-brown napkin rings across a table of twelve. The kind of detail that makes a dinner table feel like it was thought about.
  • The Linen Setting (Everyday) — a set of four napkin rings at a family table. The small object that signals the meal is worth sitting down for.
  • The Hostess Gift — twelve napkin rings as a housewarming or wedding gift. Practical, beautiful, and from a specific place.
  • The Gathering Piece (For Guests) — set at each place when friends are over; a small, considered detail that guests notice.
