The Craie uses the same seagrass weaving technique as The Mai and The Lune, with the addition of a three-tone colour pattern woven directly into the basket rather than applied after. The natural, white, and black tones are alternated in the weave to create the characteristic pattern — each basket carries a slightly different arrangement.
Every basket begins with seagrass harvested from the tidal flats of Ninh Bình — cut by hand, sorted by thickness, and set out to sun-dry for several days. The weaving is done on the floor, without tools or frames, using a tight spiral technique practised in this region for generations.
The two sizes are woven to nest together, the smaller sitting inside the larger when not in use.
The handles are long-sewn seagrass — braided, doubled over, and stitched to the basket body by hand after weaving, finished to sit flush against the weave.
