Story

The Azure is a set of six mother-of-pearl coasters with a radiating sunburst pattern, each 10cm in diameter. Named Azure for the blue tones. Made in Chương Mỹ, Hanoi.

Each coaster’s pattern is built from individual shell fragments, cut into ray shapes and set by hand into a white base until the full sunburst reads as one continuous form. The colour comes from the natural variation in the shell itself: cool tones of grey and blue, catching the light. Comes with a matching holder, inlaid in the same pattern.

Mother of pearl inlay asks little, and gives back a great deal.

  • Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth after use.
  • A damp glass or cup is fine — just avoid letting condensation or spills sit for extended periods, and wipe dry after use.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar.
  • Do not place in a dishwasher or submerge in water.
  • Keep away from direct, sustained heat sources.

The surface will develop a subtle patina with use — this is natural and desirable, not a defect.
