Handwoven in the wetland villages of Ninh Bình, this water hyacinth basket carries a little deer, its face stitched by hand. Sized for everyday use and lined in soft cotton, with sturdy vegan leather handles on either side, René is built to hold what a family collects: toys, blankets, the quiet clutter of a full life.

Story

René is a handwoven water hyacinth basket with a removable cotton lining inside.

Made in North Vietnam by artisans working with water hyacinth harvested from the lakes and river systems of the Red River Delta. Neither the smallest nor the largest in the range, René finds its place wherever a medium-sized basket would: a living room corner, a nursery shelf, a hallway.

  • Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not saturate with water.
  • Keep away from prolonged moisture or direct rain.
  • Avoid sustained direct sunlight for extended periods — this may fade the natural colour over time.
  • If the basket loses its shape, lightly dampen the exterior and reshape by hand. Leave to dry in position.
