Handwoven in the wetland villages of Ninh Bình, this water hyacinth basket carries a little bear, its face stitched by hand. Sized for everyday use and lined in soft cotton, with sturdy vegan leather handles on either side, Ourson is built to hold what a family collects: toys, blankets, the quiet clutter of a full life.

Story

Ourson is a handwoven water hyacinth basket with a removable cotton-lined interior. Named after the French word for bear cub — because it has that quality: solid, warm, dependable.

Made in North Vietnam, where water hyacinth weaving is a village craft rooted in the wetland communities of the Red River Delta. The lining is removable, giving the basket a clean finished interior suitable for blankets, toys, or laundry.

  • Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not saturate with water.
  • Keep away from prolonged moisture or direct rain.
  • Avoid sustained direct sunlight for extended periods — this may fade the natural colour over time.
  • If the basket loses its shape, lightly dampen the exterior and reshape by hand. Leave to dry in position.
